Chairman Sylvester Asare-Owusu has confirmed that former Kotoko midfielder Yussif Chibsah would join the club next season barring no hitch in negotiations with the player. The Chairman said Yusif Chibsah who is in the country after his one year stint in Israel had been contacted and that management was billed to meet him soon to hold further discussion on his return to the Porcupine family.

Chibsah acclaimed to be one of the best midfielders to have joined Kotoko in recent times was loaned to Israeli club Elite Nazareth for a year. He returned a few weeks ago and since his return there had been rumours that he will renew his relationship with Asante Kotoko and feature prominently next season.

And as if to confirm those rumours, the player in an interview with an Accra-based radio station recently said Kotoko would be his first choice when taking a decision on which club to play for in Ghana. He said Kotoko was close to his heart although King Faisal had given him the platform to become who he is today in the football circles.

He said he would only join the club he would feel comfortable at saying, “It is not a matter of the highest bidder but where I will feel happy” Yussif Chibsah noted. Asked whether he would return to Israel, the player said it would not be Elite Nazareth even if he went back because he had some problems with them.

“I had the option to renew my contract when it ended but I turned down a renewal because of some problems I had with them and even if I return to Israel I will not play for my former club” Yusif Chibsah stated.
