After almost a year away from action due to a knee injury he sustained at the club’s training grounds, fans of the gentle and agile goalkeeper Mohamed Habib, can now heave a sigh of relief.
The player whose impressive performance was sorely missed at some point in the just ended season returned to Kumasi last Friday to join his colleagues.
Looking his normal self with no visible signs of weight gain, Habib told this paper that he had been given the clearance by his doctors in Tamale but was hoping for a final examination at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital this week before plunging into any intensive training.
“Though I have been doing light training, I want to be fully cleared before fans will see me get back into my former elements”.
Asked whether he was not going to find it difficult breaking into the team that currently has almost six goalkeepers, Habib had this to say.
“I have never been a player who believes in an unhealthy competition for a place in a team. As far as I am concerned, I will be working hard and live the issue of selection to my coach”
“I will like to send a special thanks to all Kotoko supporters who in diverse ways supported my stay at home with their kind donations and remittances. I am forever grateful to them,” he concluded.
