Jerry Asare’s day with the youth team

Players of the rejuvenated youth team of Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko F/C were given a boost and motivation when the director of operation, Jerry ‘Show-show’ Asare, paid a working visit to their training last Monday.

Though Jerry was originally going to meet the members of the technical team for some discussions, he was so impressed with the way the players carried themselves about at the training that, he stayed on till the end and took the opportunity to advice the players on some useful lessons in life.

“As young people who have opted to pursue football as a career, I want you to note that the success or otherwise of your decision lays mostly on you. It therefore behooves on you to do your best to make great names for yourselves”.

“And the only way for you to achieve that greatness is hard work. You have a long way ahead of you and so do not engage in things that will destroy the hopes and ambitions that you have set for yourselves”.

“You are studying at the feet of your coaches and so the maximum respect and cooperation must be accorded them to enable the coaches teach you more of the secrets that make great footballers out of raw talents. I am sure with God being our helper; the next stars we shall be hearing about would be your names”.

Drawing one applause after another, the players and members of the technical team were given a huge relief when Jerry announced that he had taken delivery of some equipment on their behalf.

The items which comprised of quantities of footballs, training bibs and cones, playing hoses, shin guards and T-shirts were donations from one of Jerry’s associates in the U.S.A, Damian Becker.

Doing the presentation, Jerry announced that Damien has been monitoring the progress of the team from his base in the U.S.A and would be regularly making similar presentations to ease the burden of the provision of equipments on management.

The team is currently handled by a former star player of Kotoko, Peter Mensah, with welfare services provided by Benjamin Oppong, a.k.a ‘Amakye’.

Later in a chat with Kotoko Express, Jerry spoke of some observations he had made and was going to table them at management meeting to ensure that Kotoko did not lose out on the training of any of the young players.

According to him, logistics for training remains the number one problem of the team and was going to liaise with members of management to address that.

In a related development, Jerry Asare has commended Amakye for his commitment to duty.

According to Jerry, he has been monitoring Amakye for some months now and was fully convinced that Amakye was a hard worker whose attitude to work is worth emulating.

“I just wish that all other staff of the club will take a cue from Amakye’s sense of duty. He is a hard worker and I commend him for his services to Kotoko
