Erstwhile Board member and Player of Asante Kotoko, Wilberforce Kwadwo Mfum has praised the management of Kotoko for the high sense of professionalism and the recruitment procedure adopted to register players into the team
“The management Kotoko really deserves commendation for the choice of players recruited into the team ever since they took the helm of affairs. They did well to get the right calibre of players for the team and this has largely contributed to the splendid performance of the team”. He noted.
Granting audience to Kotoko Express, the former Black Stars player could not hold his emotions but showered praises on the noble five-member management of Kotoko for absorbing the right attitude that could lead Kotoko to continuous success the season.
According to him, the decent men at the helm of affairs at Kotoko must keep cool heads to ensure the existing unity and professional conduct among themselves and the playing body was well-maintained if not improved.
“All the members of the management team have played pivotal roles to make sure Kotoko’s interest was first sought but nevertheless they ought to continue this way without any setbacks”.
He was quite pleased with the performance of the playing body ever since the season got underway although there are some few corrections to be made on some of the players to enable them fully develop their identified talents.
“The team indeed has improved over the last year and this could be attributed to the quality of players Kotoko registered this season, even though some of them are very young and would to be groomed a bit to fit into the Kotoko family very well”.
Mfum further indicated that, the team of late appears to fumble a bit in their play mid-way through games and therefore charged the technical men to correct that hitch since any formidable team on a good day could jeopardize Kotoko’s ambitions.
“One thing I have realize recently is that, Kotoko do play well especially in the first fifteen to twenty minutes of games but later fail to hold onto the dominance and rather allow opponents to take over which could be threatening sometime. The technical staff having already proved their worth will have to see to that in order to maintain the Kotoko discovered form”. He emphasized.
As a potent goal poacher in his days, Kwadwo Mfum had a piece of advice for upcoming striker and star in the making, Eric Bekoe to adopt several ways of swerving opposing defenders in front of goal.
“Bekoe has been fantastic all season but he needs to be psyched and directed by the Coaches. He has to try to outwit defenders up front and run across the goal all the time rather than been marked tightly by defenders. When he is able to switch from one of attack to another, Bekoe will always get the better part of his markers and bang in more goals like he has been doing”.
