The Sylvester Asare-Owusu led management upon their assumption of office promised to recruit quality players while building a formidable team. They promised to send the playing body on training tours abroad. They talked about securing lucrative sponsorship deals that would put the club on sound footing.

In addition, the management team introduced the ‘Fabu Fila’ and promised to see to the publication of the official Asante Kotoko Magazine which hit the news stands for the first last Saturday. Therefore, the record so far shows that the five-member team delivers on their promises. Supporters of the club can be rest assured that sooner than later, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be the first Ghanaian football club to have a television show that will be watched around the globe.

Chairman Sylvester Asare-Owusu made this known in his address at the launching of the Kotoko-tiGO sponsorship deal at the luxurious Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi last Saturday.

The Chairman said management’s ultimate quest of expanding the club’s revenue sources had already resulted in bringing on board the Kotoko SMS Service popularly referred to as ‘Fabu Fila’, the Kotoko Patrons Club, the Kotoko magazine, Vita Milk and Bacchus Energy Drink, adding that there were more to come.

“To give you an insight into some of the things to look forward to, very soon tiGO in conjunction with Asante Kotoko will hit your screens with the Kotoko TV show. This is just a teaser and sooner than later everything is going to unfold for all to see” he said to thunderous applause from the audience at the beautifully organised programme.

Describing the tiGO-Kotoko sponsorship as a landmark event, the Sylvester Asare Owusu observed that both Kotoko and tiGO represents excellence in their various fields of endeavour. He congratulated tiGO for winning the Best Mobile Network in Ghana Award for 2007 and alluded to the fact that the mobile cellular giants the fastest growing cellular network in the telecommunication industry in Ghana whereas Kotoko remained peerless on the football field.

“They [tiGO] provide an exciting range of mobile telecommunication services that allow their customers to express themselves anyhow they desire and with this marriage, millions of Kotoko supporters will subscribe to the network and also enjoy their exciting services while contributing to the development of the club” said the Kotoko Chairman.

The corporate relationship between tiGO and Kotoko, Sylvester Asare-Owusu said would lead management to execute some major plans saying, “Therefore as part of management’s efforts in deepening the club’s revenue generation base, we have entered into this sponsorship deal with tiGO to provide us with the financial muscle to enable management to execute the numerous projects lined-up for implementation, that will in the end put the club on sound footing”.

He mentioned some of management’s immediate plans as improving the general welfare of the players, providing training facilities and improving the quality of the playing body. The hard working Chairman urged Kotoko supporters to patronise all services provided tiGO saying, “I wish to now propose to everyone who is a Kotoko supporter, true and true to switch to the new cellular experience, tiGO, Express Yourself” he ended.
