Adako-Jachie Project to start soon
Posted:11th June 2008
According to Director of Communications, Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, management has not abandoned plans to build a camping facility and three training pitches at the Adako Jachie site.
In a comprehensive briefing after a management meeting this week, Kwame said management is bent on leaving a good legacy for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
He said as part of that good legacy would be a 20-bedroom room camping facility as well as three standard training pitches.
The Director of Communications noted that management is tackling the pressing needs of the club one after the other, arguing that Kotoko would become the envy of all Ghanaian clubs by the time management found solutions to pertinent problems related to the club’s development.
Kwame stated that management discussed what they intend to do with the investment component of funds flowing from the pipes of new club sponsors and mobile telecommunication giants, tiGO.
He disclosed that after the purposeful deliberations, management decided to move to the Adako Jachie site as soon as possible to start the construction of a 20-bedroom camping facility, three training pitches and offices.
He said a lot has been said about the need for Kotoko to own a training pitch, camping site, a gymnasium fully equipped with modern facilities, etc.
“There have been several attempts by previous management teams to start work at the Adako Jachie site near Kumasi. However, none of these managements found the financial backing to start the project which is expected to accelerate the club’s development when completed”.
The Director of Communications reiterated management’s commitments towards the project and consequently called for total support from all Kotoko fans.
Among other decisions taken at the meeting, Kwame Baah-Nuakoh said management has with immediate effect reinstated goalkeepers’ trainer Joseph Carr after the latter rendered an unqualified apology for the circumstances under which he resigned from the club a couple of months back.
Moving further to other issues, Kwame Baah-Nuakoh also disclosed that management has initiated negotiations to purchase a brand new luxurious bus for the team. The bus, he said, is expected to arrive in the country by the latter part of the year.
Purchasing a new bus aside, the Director of Communications revealed that management studied the Jako sponsorship deal.
“We studied possibilities of getting new kit sponsors vis-à-vis the existing Jako contract. We wanted to see which way to go. Our supporters and the general public will be informed when the final decision is taken”.
