Kumasi Asante Kotoko stormed the El-Wak Stadium last Saturday in an attempt to add Liberty Professionals to their list of league victims, but the Dansoman lads proved stubborn as they forced the Porcupine Warriors to record their second drawn game in 22 league matches this season.
Kotoko supporters who thronged the stadium had to sit on thorns till the 90th minute before skilful midfielder, Francis Akwaffo, pulled Kotoko to level to cancel Emmanuel Osei’s 7th minute powerful free kick that beat Isaac Amoako in post.
As Kotoko play as guests to R.T.U at the Tamale Sports Stadium in the 16th week outstanding duel on Wednesday, Isaac Amoako, who admitted in a post match interview with Kotoko Express that he had an uneasy time in post against Liberty, has assured that Kotoko will make amends to compensate the fans for their inability to grab the three points in the match against Liberty.
“I must admit that the match against Liberty was tough. Even the goal I conceded took me by surprise. But it’s one of the surprises that sometimes happen in football. I plead with the fans to let go of that goal and rather throw their weight behind the team because there is still more to achieve”.
Having won only a point in their last three matches, Coach Addul Razak and his lads will definitely do everything possible to redeem their image but skipper Osei Kuffour and his colleagues have also vowed to add more salt to their injury.
R.T.U lost 0-4 to Hearts of Lions and drew 2-2 with Tema Youth at their Tamale fortress before losing 0-1 to Kessben last Saturday at the Anane Boateng Park at Abramkese.
As far as the expected uncompromising game is concerned, Amoako will probably man the post with George Cudjoe assisting him on the bench following the injury to goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye and Eric Nii Baah.
First choice goalie, Soulama Abdoulaye sustained a knee injury during the Kotoko-Hearts 3-3 thriller at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Unfortunately his number two, Eric Nii Baah, also got injured when Kotoko clashed with city rivals Kessben FC in the midweek encounter in Kumasi giving way for Isaac Amoako to hold the fort.
The two injured goalkeepers are receiving medical attention and are expected to be out of action until they fully recover.
Isaac Amoako has stated emphatically that there is no cause for alarm.
According to him, he has prepared adequately for the task ahead and assured the fans he will put up his best always.
“The fact that I have not been consistent recently and did not have a good day against Liberty does not mean I am not good. I assure the fans to expect the best from me in the remaining match”. He said.
In his brief comment about tomorrow’s clash against R.T.U, Amoako noted “I don’t think this game is extra-ordinary. It’s just a normal game. Though we are expecting stiff opposition from R.T.U, I am confident Kotoko will eventually take the three maximum points at stakes.
