No wholesale recruitment next season

According to information available to Kotoko Express, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will not undertake any massive recruitment exercise next season.

Prior to the start of this season, the team was overhauled with almost twenty players making way for seventeen new ones. The story will however be different next season.

Director of Communications, Kwame Baah-Nuakoh told this paper after a management meeting on Monday that they have consulted with the technical bench and had resolved not to recruit many players for the 2008/2009 season.

Kwame said management together with the technical team would rather identify areas in the present team that needed reinforcement adding that the club would definitely bring on board a few more players if the Porcupines qualify for the group stage of this year’s CAF Confederations Cup.

Though the Director of Communications did not mention names, it is almost certain that defender Richard Manu and striker Kwadwo Poku, who are currently not part of the Kotoko Africa squad as a result of the Ghana Football Associations’ negligence, would be part of the players that are likely to be added to the squad.
