Liberty defeat for Kotoko in Glo top 4

27th August 2008

Liberty Professionals beat Asante Kotoko on Wednesday in the day two clash of the Glo Top Four Tournament at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium in Accra by 2 goals 1. Yaw Antwi scored in the 7th minute and again in the 25th minute.

Francis Akwafo pulled one back in the second half but it was not enough to salvage the game in Kotoko's favour.

The victory put Liberty on six points, with Asante Kotoko on three points respectively.

Liberty started on a bright note as they took control of the middle and  had the ball in the back of the net but Tuaha Khamix's strike was ruled offside.

Three minutes on, Antwi broke the deadlock with a spectacular half volley after he was fed on target by Seidu Yakubu. On 25 minutes  Antwi was on target again to fire a long range shot outside the penalty box after goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah had spilled Richard Kissi's effort onto his path outside the box.

Coach Bashir Hayford introduced Jordan Opoku and Eric Bekoe for Arthur and Kwame Obeng Darko in the second half. In the 67th minute, Bekoe picked out Francis Akwafo from the right who shot through the legs of goalkeeper Daniel Adjei of Liberty.

Liberty were reduced to ten men after midfielder Yakubu was shown the exit for a second caution.

thanks for the opportunity given me to comment about the game.well i have observe something about the teams central defense that i think you will help me tell the coach to work or tell the players especially the number five man .think the problem with our defense is that the number five normally joins lateral defense thereby leaving the central defense exposed and that cost the team a lot.i want you to tell the coach to tell the number five to be in the middle whenever there is going to be a corner kick against us.he should not joins the lateral defense when there is a corner kick and also he should not move too much side there exposing the defense. ok?. guess thats what i want you to tell the coach and the players. wish the team best of luck on sunday and they should work on what i have said before Sunday please jerom.

I think to lost against Liberty Proffesionals is not news because as we all know Liberty is a very good side in Ghana as well as Africa.Terefore what we have to do is to prepare very well so that we win the rest of the matches.Though we are trying some of our players we should be using some of the the good once too.For instance Bekoe we know has to be rested for the CAF but still he has to play because when you go to Europe like this they play three matches in a week.
So we should not play with the Top4, all els our enemies will be happy.
LONG LIVE KOTOKO.GOOD LUCK YOU ALL PLAYERS & SUPPORTERS.

is it not a lesson to us, as management of kotoko? why should we have to register about 37 players? whiles only 22 players kick a ball for kotoko this season.
why cant we register small number of players in order to take very good care of them.
the match between liberty has expose the kind of waste some players have been to kotoko.
