Contrary to wide media reports
that Madam Helena Cobbinah has resigned from the club, it can be
said with authority that the retired senior police officer is
still at post.
A section of the media reported
that the club’s Director of Administration and Finance Director
tendered in her resignation following a disagreement between her
and other management members over whether or not to retain
goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.
The Graphic Sports which
published the story weeks ago was not particularly categorical
on whether Madam Helena Cobbinah had resigned but some radio
stations in Accra and Kumasi were blunt saying that the woman
was no longer part of management.
When contacted to verify if indeed
she had vacated her post, she said she was shocked to hear the
story adding that she could not tell where the whole fabrication
emanated from.
She said there was no way she
could leave her post as if she had no respect for the figure who
appointed her part of the management.
“It is not true that I have
resigned,” she stated firmly. “I do not know where that story
came from. It is completely false. I have not resigned. I am
still at post. I have received many calls over that issue but I
say emphatically that I am still around. I have great respect
for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. I cannot show disrespect to him and
Kotoko for that matter. I am very disappointed over such
falsehood. I want every Kotoko supporter to know that I have not
resigned” said Madam Cobbinah in a disappointment tone.
Checks by this paper to the club
secretariat prior to publication revealed that Madam Helena
Cobbinah was still at post except that she has not been regular
at the office lately primarily because of her father’s death.
“My late father’s funeral is just
around the corner and I have to make time to get the preparation
right to give my late father a fitting funeral. That is the
reason why I have not been coming to the office as one would
expect. That is not to say that I have resigned” she explained.
The Administration and Finance
Director continued that she has handed over some her duties to
one of the longest serving administrative officer of the office,
Mr. Emmanuel Owusu
“I communicate with the
secretariat and colleague management members. I still cannot
understand the whole story about my supposed resignation,” she
said and further threatened to take legal action against any
media house puts out such a false story about her.
“I will be consulting my lawyers
to see what action to take. They will have to retract that false
story or legal actions could be taken against them” she
concluded. |
