The Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in collaboration with telecommunication giants and sponsors of the club, MTN, will next week Wednesday, April 6, cut the sod for the construction of a dressing room facility at the Adako Jachie training ground.
Despite having two standard pitches, the Adako Jachie training site has no changing rooms and management as per the MTN Projects of a Legacy Nature component in the club’s contract with the telecommunication company wants to start getting things done.
Executive Board Chairman, Dr. K. K. Sarpong who disclosed this in a radio interview says the construction of the training ground; dressing room facility is part of the number of projects his administration would be undertaking.
“We want the support of our fans rain or shine… We have a number of projects to be undertaken. With the support of MTN, we will cut the sod for the training ground, dressing room facility on April 6 and we will need the presence and support of our fans”.
The club chairman observed that the transformation of Kotoko is well on track. He said his administration remains committed to achieving the best for the club. He further revealed that the club’s secretariat would be expanded since its present office space is not big enough to accommodate the staff of the club.
“The next thing on our mind is the office space. It is too small. I don’t even have an office. I use the conference room. That is not good. We will be doing an extension with some of the funds gained from our sponsorship from the International Energy Insurance” he disclosed.
Dr. Sarpong also revealed that his recent trip to Europe was in the interest of the club adding that his administration is progressively laying the right foundation for the proper development of the club.
He stated that one of management’s major priorities is the construction of a Players’ Camping Village and indicated that the situation where the club resorts to the use of other people’s facilities like Guest Houses and Hotels for camping is not acceptable.
“These structures are not too difficult to construct. Our strategy is to make sure that this year we will have a Players’ Camping Village at the outskirts of Kumasi”.
The Executive Board Chairman was unequivocal in his statement that Kotoko does not need a stadium at this time.
“A stadium is not a priority now. We have to move step by step” ended Dr. K. K. Sarpong.
