Kotoko thanks security agencies for a peaceful match at Tamale

The office of the Supporters’ Coordinator of Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko has sent a special message of appreciation and thanks to the security services and agencies that ensured the smooth and peaceful environment for Kotoko's away match against R.T.U at the Tamale Stadium last Wednesday.

Before the team travelled to the Northern Regional capital for the tension-packed match, intelligence reports had filtered into the Kotoko camp portraying gloom and insecurity for the team.

“We therefore took a proactive measure and effectively liaised with the various security agencies in the region and I am happy to say that full protection was given the team and supporters that travelled with the tea, for the match”.

“Right from Kumasi to Tamale, the security agencies kept constant touch with us to know our expected time of arrival and all they needed to know and that gave me the assurance to ask Kotoko supporters in and around Tamale to turn up in their numbers at the match,” George Amponsah-Duodu, the Supporters’ Coordinator said.

At the stadium for the match itself, he says the presence of Police, Prisons Military and plain-clothed detectives was an assuring situation for us and so the players had the peace of mind and confidence to go into the match without harboring any fear of attack and intimidation.

“Much as I cannot pin-point names for praise and appreciation, I guess all those involved in ensuring a peaceful match, including R.T.U officials themselves deserves to be commended and emulated”.

“Their show of sportsmanship and alertness to duty should send a signal to all centres in the Glo Premier League that football is best enjoyed in an environment of peace and cordiality,” he concluded.
