Asante Kotoko’s rugged defender, John Kufour, has attributed the teams splendid performance in the second round of the Glo Premier league to the hard work they have been doing both at training and in matches.
He also says their hard work is being complimented with an equal measure of determination to win the remaining matches to get Kotoko to a respectable position on the league log.
Speaking to Kotoko Express after playing a yeoman’s job in the victory over city rivals, King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday, the defender who until recently had been experiencing an irregular spot in the first team shared a truthful moment with the paper.
“As predicted, the match was not an easy one, but in all, we have been able to scale the Faisal threat to our smooth run and we are thankful to God for that. They gave us a tough match, but our determination to win put us ahead of them and we won in a grand style”.
Despite the fact that Kotoko won the match, they yet again experienced a painful and ugly icing on their beautiful performance by conceding another cheap goal, and this Kufour expressed concern about.
“We all have been doing our part as a team and I am surprised that despite all our efforts, we give away cheap goals. This is not the time to apportion blame so I will suggest that we all stop that and continue to concentrate on what we have to do to have a good team,” he said.
On his part, he assured that he was going to work even harder to get into the right fitness and toughness to get first team place always.
“It is only when I have been able to achieve my target of hitting a respectable fitness level that I will be content”.
“To the fans of the club, I urge them not to despair because we have them as the centre of everything that we do. We love them and will always do things to make them happy with,” he added.
