Al Hilal also wants a match

11th July 2007

After playing just one match here in Sudan, Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko has become a hot cake that almost every premier club here wants to play against.

Though the Hilal officials had been visiting the club's hotel to say hello, they pushed their agenda of the frequent visits to an over drive after watch the club play only a match.

According to their link man, Mohamed Jamal, "Hilal officials have been so impressed with t he performance of Kotoko that they also think it will be wise for them to also test their strength against them before they play their next match in the champions' league.

Though the director of operations, Jerry Asare has confirmed the Hilal interest, he says it will not be a prudent business practice for Kotoko to go ahead to negotiate with them "and so I have directed them to liaise with our hosts, Al Merrekh".

"Whatever we do about this will depend on how far they will be able to convince Merrekh to allow us play the match. We will love to play, but I also think our hosts should have the final say," he added.

The match if honored will also be the fourth match between the two sides in Sudan. The record stands as follows:

1962 (1-1), 1990 (2-2) and 2005 (2-1 for Hilal)
